oak flats was our last Wheeling trip. we did the trail hackberry creek. tom and i went up Friday night, me deciding last minute i want to go. getting up there just in time for every one to be starving. after eating and setting up we finally got to sleep (not to mention Carsyn's screaming). in the morning we had a breakfast that was very good. thanks tom. a little after that were started packing some of the gear up. we started "warming up" on some hills next to camp, were billy found his first problem. i forgot what it was but it was there. good thing nothing major so we hit the road about an hour later we hit the trail head. a few hours and a few story's told by former trail runner Jeff, we had lunch next to a cattle puddle with some cow, steer, cow, bull, whatever you want to call them, after lunch we hit the trail again, it wasn't to long till we got to a hill no one could get up, although barley any one tried it. so we turned around and tried finding a different way. but no luck so we turned around yet again and did the trail backwards. once of the trail we hit the switch backs. tom and i wanted to do the switchbacks that he went up and down a few other times in a service truck to work on a d6. every one else wanted to go the way the came and left up the new switchbacks. a little and not far up the trail tom and i rolled his jeep on its side. i had to run to the end of the trail to get phone service, but it ended up none and being the wronge trail i turned around and walked back i meet up with tom not far from where we rolled, tom and i had an idea to climb up a moutain on some rocks to get phone service. so i hiked up the moutain and i got it! so i called billy and told him where we were and jeff, ryan, blaine, jesse, and billy came back into the canyon after finding there way up to us we rolled the jeep over and got the carb working agin so we could go home! a few tugs from jeff and a few pushs tom was home free. we got back to camp at about 8 pm, packed up and headed home.

this is pyeat draw. this was and is my first wheelin trip with the baker family. i was driving Jesse's jeep, while Jesse baker was spotting me through the only part i got to really wheel. this was a fun trip, although with only 2 minor problems. tom Ginny and i drove up there and was all good until we hit payson which was traffic up the wazoo, we arrived at about 7, after we set up and fed everyone who was begging for food we sat around the camp fire waiting. we were waiting for Jesse and his family, the decided to leave at after 9 p.m. the arrived at a little after 12 o'clock that night. once Jesse and Amanda was set up we hit the hay for the long Saturday ahead of us. Saturday morning we had a great breakfast provided by tom and Ginny baker. as they day went on we loaded up and hit the trail, which was a very short drive up the dirt road. we were at the trail head in the mid morning. when we got there we found that a group ahead of us of about 20 rigs which made the trip go alot slower then planned. a Little after this picture was taken we had had lunch. but right before that we found that tom's jeep cracked the oil pan and Ginny and tom left back to camp. about an hour or so later the filter was ahead of us the group before us would have took along time to get through so we left. we never did get to the water fall. once all of us (billy and fam, Jesse and some fam, me Vance and wife) we sat around in the shade. billy, Hannah, and i had to go to the store, once done with the store we headed back up the mountain to our camp site. in about the middle of the mountain we found that Billy jeep had very little brakes. so we made the slow descent to camp with out them. Vance took billy to town to get the essentials for fixing them. after we Afro engineered his brakes, we sat around ate and slept. Sunday morning we got up pretty early packed up and made the decent home!

a lot of for thanks to the bakers. thanks!
